Irish Culture in Israel

Irish culture – music, dance, literature, cinema, art - has always been very popular in Israel.  The Embassy co-operates with a wide range of partners in developing its annual cultural programme.  Some established highlights of the annual programme include the Irish Film and Irish Music Festival at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, the Irish Studies Seminar at Ben Gurion University, the Samuel Beckett Lecture at Tel Aviv University and a number of Bloomsday activities in June.

Details of upcoming Irish cultural events can be found in the News Update section of this website.

The Culture Division of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs operates a limited book donation scheme for public libraries and universities.  If you are interested in being considered for this scheme, please contact the cultural affairs section (Sheilah Harris) on +972 3 696 4166 ext. 103 or contact us here.

The Embassy’s cultural affairs section is always pleased to hear from persons interested in staging Irish cultural events in Israel.  Organisers of cultural events may also find it useful to review the website of Culture Ireland, the official agency responsible in Ireland for promoting internationally the best of Ireland’s art and culture.  Culture Ireland is the main source of funding for Irish cultural events overseas and details of how to apply for grants are included on the website.
